Proto-TRUK Review

Hello again and welcome to the final review of the night! This time we're going over a vehicle. More specifically, I'm reviewing Rook's Proto-TRUK, a large vehicle with an exclusive translucent Rook. Is it worth buying, or should you stick to the amazing basic Rook figure? Read on to find out.

Rook

The original Rook figure was the best figure in Wave 1. Since this figure is the same mold, it's bound to be good - but what effect, if any, does the clear have?

He has the same details as the normal figure, but because of the coloring, none of them are printed and they're harder to make out. Except his eyes; they glow a sinister yellow on the all-blue figure.

He has the same amazing articulation as normal Rook. I dunno, but this guy looks kinda evil to me. Like an evil Rook clone. To those nerds who play with your Ben 10 toys (it's okay, I do too), feel free to use that.

Comparison to Ben and normal Rook. Normal Rook looks better.

This is normally where I'd show you his Proto-Tool, but I lost it. It looks like the normal one, but clear. I did find Gravattack, however, so all's good.

Ratings

Articulation: Just as perfect as the original 5/5
Sculpt: An evil, simpler version of the original. 4/5
Playability: An evil twin! Rook after an accident with NRG! The possibilities are endless! 4.5/5
Overall: 4.5/5 Very Good
(but not as good as the original)

The TRUK

And now the highlight of the playset: Rook's transforming Proto-TRUK. Not Truck. Not Truk. TRUK. Ferrick insists that we call it a TRUK. Silly Ferrick.

TRUK Mode

It's a truck TRUK. It looks like the one in the show, and it has Max's Plumbing decals on either side. There isn't really much else to say here.

The back holds the six missiles while in TRUK mode. I lost one. Deal with it. They can only be fired in ship mode. It was very considerate of Bandai to give us a holding place; if they hadn't, they'd all be gone by now.

The top opens to reveal a seat for Ben.

Rook driving. He's tough to get in there, and he doesn't stay in place very well. They should have included seatbelts.

Ben in his seat. It's clearly made for him. Two armrests hold him in securely. Good thing, too; there's no floor below him, and he'd fall right out if he wasn't held in. He could always go Jetray to save himself, though. Right, Ferrick? Right?!

SHIPP Mode

Because why do TRUKs get to have all of the fun?

DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN

...

What.

That was totally the UAF transformation song.

Anyway.

The TRUK is pretty easy and quite fun to transform. You lift up the back, pull a trigger to unfold the wings, then take off the front panels for use as missile holders.

Here's a video of me failing epically.

This handle allows you to swoosh the TRUK SHIPP around. It also has a trigger that unfolds the wings.

The missile holders. Each one holds three. I didn't show all three. Deal with it. You flick the button and the missile files. It goes pretty far, too. Much better than the Tenn-Speed's missiles.

Rook got the SHIPP back from Evil Rook and now he can fly it. Yippee.

"Hey Ben-Dude, wanna race?"

"Sure. But can you resist my super speed?"

"What have I gotten myself into...?"

If you get the reference in Ben's first line, you are awesome.

Rating: 5/5 Amazing
